BROADCAST AND AUDIO RECORDING WORK


A staff and Free lance broadcaster and journalist for some thirty years, Dennis Rookard has shown excellent management skills in leading various programme productions and his able to bring projects in on time, and under budget. Of more recent interest his assignments have included.

PHOENIX FM

From November 1996 to the present time.. Involvement with this local Brentwood community radio station. During it's most recent month on air as an RSL, produced and presented a daily four hour programme as well as produced and presented it's output of political programming, as well as local features and drama.

BBC ESSEX.
From 1986 to late 1995, he was a free lance producer and presenter of Essex Folk, the stations folk music programme. He continues to produce a wide range of feature reports and soft news items for the stations various mainstream programming. In 1994, he gained a major East Anglian Broadcasting award in the on-air personality section of the Greene King Broadcasting awards.

LINK FM
For this community based FM RSL station in Havering, Dennis Rookard during their month on air , produced a number of drama productions and features. He also undertook the presentation of a four hour daily morning music and magazine programme..

THE BRITISH FORCES BROADCASTING SERVICE
For this organisation that provides a full broadcasting service to British servicemen and their families overseas, Dennis Rookard was between 1974 and 1981 and again between 1982 and 1990 involved in three main areas of the stations London based operations.
SIT-REP. As the organisations main programme of military news and information, Dennis Rookard was contracted to provide both audio and scripted copy by undertaking visits to various military installations, as well as maintaining close liaison with contacts within the Ministry of Defence in Whitehall in order to report on developments of interest to the forces, whilst at the same time being aware or maintaining strict military security.
TOPIFAX. Was asked to establish and develop this service, that required a nation wide network of free lance journalists who were tasked to provide self cued two to three minute audio packages that looked at the odd or unexpected side of like though-out the UK. Each day the operational requirement was for up to seven of these packages to be dispatched from London for world-wide use.
GENERAL PROGRAMMING. Providing features and interviews of interest to forces family programming and consumer interest strands. Also involved studio production and direction work on the stations prime time BFBS UK programme that was broadcast on all overseas stations in network as well as in part over BBC Radio Five.

ESSEX RADIO
Between 1981 and 1982, as part of a year long contract for the station, Dennis Rookard acted as presenter of the stations Folk Music programme as well as acting as studio producer of much of the stations mainstream output. Also acted as on air presenter of magazine programming. This included an experimental early morning farming programme. As part of his contract was ask to establish a features and documentary use. Becoming head of the unit he was responsible for planning, scripting producing and directing a wide range of special programming for the station. Acted as the stations outside broadcast producer. A task that required finding locations and liaison with local authorities. The post also involved working alongside the stations promotions unit

BBC WORLD SERVICE
From 1975 to 1979, acted as reporter on a free lance bases for such programmes as Dateline and Outlook, plus the production of features and documentaries as required.

LBC
For the London Broadcasting Company from it's inception in 1973 to late 1975. Presenter of Nightline, the nations first overnight phone-in programme. Plus work on both the local news desk and Independent radio News working on both hard and soft news copy as well as on and off-air location promotions around the London area.

Aside from his voluntary production for this local Brentwood Charity, for whom he acts as their Technical Consultant and studio manager he also acts as audio engineer and producer for various drama and feature productions from Hosiprog who provide programming for the nations 350 stong Hospital Broadcasting network.
